Why Participate in Vocational Education and Training (VET)?

Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses help students develop practical skills to prepare for the workforce and further education. VET qualifications range from Certificate I to Advanced Diplomas and provide hands-on learning experiences.

Benefits of VET

By completing a VET course, students may earn:

  • A Statement of Attainment (for completing individual units)

  • A Qualification and Record of Results (for meeting all course requirements)

VET courses can contribute up to 8 credits per course towards your QCE.

A Certificate III level or higher, when combined with four General subjects, may also contribute to your ATAR.

Interested in VET? Speak with the Head of Department Global & Vocational Learning to explore your options.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

All students completing a VET course require a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

What is a USI? The USI is a 10-character reference number that:

  • Creates a secure online record of training and qualifications.

  • Allows students to access their training records and transcripts.

  • Is free and easy to create and stays with students for life.

How to Create a USI Visit www.USI.gov.au and provide identification (e.g., Medicare card or birth certificate) to complete the registration process.
