Device Selection

At Springfield Central State High School, we provide families with the flexibility to choose a device that best suits their personal needs and budget. While we do not endorse any specific brand, model, or supplier, all devices must meet the minimum specifications and have a compatible operating system to support learning effectively.

Devices That Are NOT Compatible

To ensure a seamless connection to the school's BYOD network, the following devices are not supported:

  • Linux Devices – Incompatible with the school’s BYOD solution.

  • Chromebooks – Not compatible with the BYOD program.

  • Windows 10S Mode – Devices with Windows 10S are compatible only if switched out of S Mode.

  • Android Tablets (e.g. Galaxy tablets) – Not supported for school use.

NAPLAN & Exam Device Requirements

During NAPLAN and school exams, students must use plug-in headphones for assessments. Acceptable options include:

  • Standard 3.5mm headphone jack

  • USB-connected headphones

Wireless or Bluetooth headphones/earpods are not supported.

  • Significant text entry is needed (iPads lack ergonomic large-text input unless paired with a Bluetooth keyboard).

  • Warranty coverage (to ensure long-term usability)

  • Optional but recommended: Accidental damage insurance
