The foundation of our school spirit lays with our school mascot and four houses which help to create a strong and positive culture throughout our school. These are best represented through our mascots.

Springer the Kangaroo

Springfield Central State High School's culture and identify is shaped by our school spirit.  This begins with our key mascot representative, Springer the Kangaroo.

Springer helps to build  team spirit and camaraderie, Springer has a huge amount of self-confidence and epitomises our school spirit. Springer  also represents the positive values of our school in addition to aspiration, positive attitude, sportsmanship, pride, individual responsibility, respect and expression.

Our school houses

The spirit of Springfield Central State High School is supported by our four houses: ApolloAthenaArtemis and Poseidon.

Apollo - Wolf

Apollo is the son of Zeus External link and Leto External link, and the twin brother of Artemis. Apollo is the god of light and music. He taught men medicine and was good at archery.

Our mascot, the wolf, is a sacred animal of Apollo. His responsibility is to protect us and lead us to be fierce, bold, strong and brave and resilient. We will follow him to victory. As Apollo our responsibility is to respect one another and our competitors, build relationships with them and achieve to our personal best.

Athena - Owl

Athena, the Goddess of war, courage and wisdom, has her sacred animal- the owl.

Springfield Central State High’s Athena House have called their owl Sophos which translates to 'wise'. As Athena is a Goddess of wisdom this name is fitting for our animal symbol. Within Athena House, our students are reminded and guided to use their wisdom, courage and their fighting spirit each and every day. By following SCHS’s 4Rs our Athenian students do this to the best of their abilities.

Sophos is a great addition to the Athena House and will assist in continuing to guide our students to greatness.

Artemis - Deer

Artemis is the goddess of hunting. She is the daughter of Zeus, god of all gods, and the twin sister of Apollo.  She will show respect to the other houses and she will congratulate their achievements while being humble when winning.

Our mascot is responsible for the safety or those in Artemis and she will ensure that we are all trustworthy and honest competitors.  Our mascot will never give in and show everybody what it means to be truly resilient.

Above all else, our mascot will form special relationships with her peers and teachers: relationships that won't be broken easily - relationships that will last until long after leaving Springfield Central State High School.

Poseidon - Horse

Throughout history, horses have represented power, strength, and stability. Poseidon, the epitomic representation of these three traits, initially created the horse in an attempt to attract the ladies with a symbol of his great might.

From his faithful stud of horses rose a great warrior, Poseidon’s own trusty steed, Aquarius. Aquarius devotedly served at his creator’s side for millenniums, symbolising great strength, and leading many herds into battle. His great power, speed, courage and perseverance flourished through the centuries, until 5hroughout history, horses have represented power, strength, and stability.

He promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Greek wilderness. Today, still wanted by the other Gods, he survives as a soldier of fortune.
