Private transport

  • Students can be dropped off in front of the school gate via the drive through road at the bottom of Parkland Drive.
  • The drop off zone inside the school (front of B Block) is for students with disabilities who have made prior arrangements with the school.
  • Parents utilising the drop off zone are not permitted to leave their vehicles.
  • Parking is permitted in the school car park opposite the main school gate.

Walking

  • Students are expected to use the designated footpaths and traffic crossings surrounding our school as they walk to and from school. Students must exit by either gates 2 or 6 (Entry).
  • Other gates are used for school authorised vehicle access only.

Bicycles, skateboards, scooters

  • All riders must wear stack helmets to and from school.
  • Bikes, skateboards and scooters must be left inside the bicycle enclosure located at the top of the school near E block.
  • All riders must enter via the top school gate (Gate 1), being mindful of incoming and exiting traffic while WALKING to the enclosure.
  • All riders must secure their item inside the enclosure.
  • The enclosure is secured at the first bell and unlocked just prior to 3pm each day.
  • Bicycles, skateboards or scooters must NOT be ridden inside the school grounds at any time.

Bus services

  • Bus services to and from school are provided by local bus companies and public transport is also available.
  • Arrangements to access these services are the responsibility of the parent/caregiver and timetables are organised by the bus company.
  • Behaviour is monitored by the drivers, the bus companies and the school.
  • Unacceptable behaviour, either on the bus or while waiting for the bus, can result in loss of access to the service and/or further
    consequences issued by the school.

School staff will supervise student departure on school buses in our designated school bus area. Students are expected to follow staff direction in waiting for the bus, lining up and getting onto the bus. Students who choose to wait for a school bus outside of the SCSHS designated area will be issued consequences. Drivers will be directed to set down and pick up passengers at our designated bus areas ONLY.

Four basic principles

  1. Always behave in a safe and sensible manner respecting the rights and safety of others.
  2. Treat other people and their possessions with respect.
  3. Follow the bus driver’s directions without argument.
  4. Do not interfere with bus property, equipment, shelters and signs by marking or damaging them in any way.

Student code of conduct

Students are expected to follow the Springfield Central State High Student Code of Conduct at school AND while they are travelling to and from school. We have high expectations of student behaviour while they are in the SCSHS school uniform and/or if they are identifiable as students of our school.
