Information Technology encompasses studies in robotics, design, computing and business.
Introduction to robotics is a single Term elective that is studied by all Year 7 students and explores the design, develop, evaluate cycle used in computer programming. Students who display an aptitude for robotics programming or a genuine interest in the subject are asked to join the robotics club that will contest events throughout the year.
Information, Communication and Technology (ICT):
ICT is a single Term elective studied by all Year 7 students during the year. The aim of this subject is to ensure that all students have the basic minimum computer skills to be successful in their studies in Years 8 – 12. Students will learn about file management, word processing, information management and some multimedia skills.
Eco Design and Town Planning:
This subject is a semester long elective studied in Year 9. This subject has many cross-curricula benefits, particularly in the areas of Science and Maths. Students will be taught the skills to design environmentally sustainable living options and will be asked to apply these skills in the creation of a town planning project.
Business studies is a semester long elective studied in Year 9. Students will gain valuable insight into the nature of business, business planning and the product development cycle. This will culminate in the students participating in a trade expo to receive feedback on their proposed product and its suitability for the intended market.
