Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a new pathway supporting the delivery of 21st century learning. It is a term used to describe a digital device ownership model where students can use their personally-owned mobile devices to access the department’s information and communication (ICT) network.

These page provides information on the BYOD program and other additional information such as:

  • Device information/minimum specifications/ Selection
  • Program Requirements
  • Cyber safety
  • Software
  • Misuse and breaches of acceptable use

*From 2018 it will be compulsory for the Following Year levels to have an Electronic device:
  • Year 7
  • Year 11 & 12
  • All Magna Academic Excellence Classes

For all other other year levels , BYOD will remain optional in 2018. Additional year levels will be added after this time.

At Springfield Central State High School there are 2 options when looking into our BYOD program:

Option 1

Purchase a recommended device from either Vendor portals. We have currenly Dell, HP and Acer on-board with speciality designed sites just for BYOD at SCSHS. These devices have been chosen by the school to be adequate for school use. They also carry Special Education Warranty(On-Site and usually Next Business Day) and Accessories for their devices.

Option 2

Bring your Own device... as it states - if you have a device at home or would like to purchase something different that is offered from the Vendor Portals you can. Providing it meets the requirements outlined on the Device Selection page you are welcome to join our BYOD program.

We have chosen to support the implementation of a BYOD model because:

  • BYOD recognises the demand for seamless movement between school, work, home and play
  • Our BYOD program assists students to improve their learning outcomes in a contemporary educational setting

In addition to the BYOD Charter, a BYOD FAQ page has been created to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions. The link to this page can also be found on the left hand side of this page.
